8a- Solving The Problem

My opportunity belief is that there is limited parking on campus and around Gainesville and it is negatively affecting those who have their cars at school. The solution I have for this problem is a parking garage on campus that is 7 stories high that allows students who own scooters and cars to park for free. The first couple of floors could be used for daily parking and the top floors could be used for year-round parking. I believe this could help many students financially because they are already paying so much for college and having to pay extra for parking could be a setback. If there was free parking on campus a lot of students wouldn't have to go through the hassle of paying excessive amounts to rarely use their car.  In addition, I think that the TAPS system needs to be looked at and fixed because it's extremely unfair what they are doing. 1. Hey Natalie!
I love your opportunity because I completely agree that there is so little parking on campus, AND it's expensive. I live off-campus and don't even bother with paying for parking. I just park in a lot closest to a bus stop and take the bus back and forth. However, this does affect when I need to park on campus for exams. UF should put another tall parking garage somewhere on campus as you suggested, however it wouldn't be free. The money they get from parking pays for the construction and labor, and any other transportation expenses on their behalf.

  2. Natalie,
I completely agree with your post. A free parking garage would provide an adequate amount of parking spaces for on-campus use. This would allow many students drive to campus. I also agree with your comment on TAPS. TAPS should review a pending ticket before booting a scooter. A free parking garage would provide an alternative to using TAPS associated areas. Overall, this opportunity would solve many problems that students face.
