16A –What’s Your Secret Sauce?

  1. I think that I am set apart from others because I have the capability to think about multiple things at one time. Growing up I was diagnosed with ADHD and while many think this is a disadvantage I take it at an advantage because instead of only grasping and focusing on one topic at a time I have the ability to focus on many things at the same time. It allows me to think of many different problems/solutions at a time and I use this to my benefit because I think if you are someone that doesn't have ADHD you are not used to your brain overwhelming with thousands of thoughts.
  2. Growing up the youngest of 4 children there was a lot of pressure on me to meet the high set bar of my three older siblings. All three of them are very intelligent people who got straight A’s throughout their education career. As the youngest my parents have always compared me to them and I think this benefited my worth ethic because it pushed me hard and they set really good examples that I had to follow.  In addition if I ever needed any extra help I had 3 intelligent people wanting to help me.
  3. I think something that sets me apart from others is my ability to think outside the box and use my creative mind to succeed in ways many other people cannot.  To be creative is a natural talent that not many people have,  this helps me when dealing with problems because I think of different ways and solutions instead of being closed minded. I also can use my creativity to my advantage when it comes to designing and writing, I use unique strategies and tactics that only creative people contain.
  4. Another human capital that sets me apart from other people is my passion and determination. From a young age I have played on many sports teams and swam completely, I broke records and made it to counties 3 years in a row. I have always been determined to succeed in anything I do and I always was bummed if I didn't get first place. I never quit when it got hard I just kept pushing myself to be better. I used the failure as my motivation to do better next time.  This relates to me academically as well because I have the same mindset. I always push myself to study harder, to try harder and to think harder.
  5. I also have the ability to self mentor myself. Growing up a lot of the time it was hard to focus in class and I did not get anything out of the day when I sat there listening to the teacher. When I went home I would stare at my notes and at my work and think what the heck is this stuff. However, because I was not able to focus in school I had to re teach myself everything so I wouldn't fail the tests. In addition being in pace the first year of school I didn't go to class and I have to manage my time and teach myself the content in order to succeed.

I see myself very similar as other people see me, people see me as compassionate and caring and act as a parental figure to them, helping them make decisions. However they also see me as a determined hard working student who tries my hardest in everything I do. People notice my ability to put other people before myself and show people that there is good in this world. There are some differences in how I view myself verse house other people view me but for the most part they are all very similar. I think the interviewees are correct about me I’ve known a lot of them for my whole life so I think they have really seen me grow as a person. The only corrections I would make to the list is maybe to add a couple of more that I didn’t touch base on that a lot of the interewess had in common.
