26A – Celebrating Failure

1) I have failed many times in my life and have used this as a way to build my confidence and not to give up. A time in my life when I failed was when I was taking my financial accounting quiz.  We are allowed to take these quizzes three times and every single time I thought I was going to do well and I ended up getting the same grade. I failed all 3 attempts at taking this quiz.
2)  I learned that it's okay to lose your footing sometimes and fail, it allows you to grow as a person and better yourself all around. Not everyone is good at everything and failure helps you see that in order to get what you want in life you have to get back up on your feet and keep trying.

3) Failure is hard, it takes away from you for a couple of hours and it's hard to take your mind off, but instead of using this as negative energy, use it as fuel to motivate you to do better next time. Emotionally it was hard not to doubt myself I was self conscious that I was stupid for a while when my friends would take about it and say they did well. But after a few days of feeling sorry for myself I got right back up and aced the next test. This class changed my perspective on failure, because it is hard to fail a class that is strictly on your own ideas and opinions. It's a very cool concept and it allowed me to gain confidence in my ideas.

  1. Natalie,
I agree that you can't use failure negatively. You must motivate yourself to succeed and improve next time. I have also experienced this failure in financial accounting. I was so confused on how the computer program wanted the answers to be entered. I had the information write, but got the question wrong each time. I learned from this experience and learned how to properly enter the information before taking the final version. I am glad that this class has provided the confidence and reassurance in our ability to succeed through failure.
